Summer 2007“At last some edge….“it was left to Zambesi to redefine a new intelligent sexiness for the modern woman.””

“Their collection for Summer 06/07 came down the runway drenched in the languid sensuality of the Greek Isles,  with the models hair wet as if from the surf, their lips swollen from the salt water,  and wearing their clothes like glamorous castaways.” Stacy Gregg

Zambesi continued to explore  a key silhouette; volume, highlighted in balloon sleeves, tulip dress shapes and refined bloomer shorts which were captured with Shaped belts, fitted bustiers and oversize tanks.

Details included sunray pleating, piping, brass buttons and pintucking.  Delicate chiffons were anchored by strong tailoring; a waistcoat over a sunray pleated dress over a t-shirt, a belted sharkskin jacket over a silk satin gown.  For men, suit jackets were stripped of pocket detailing and worn with long johns, wing tip collared shirts were reworked in linen, and colour was highlighted by striped oversize cravats and slim corduroy jeans.

A signature 50’s inspired leaf print on linen heralded a palette tastefully restricted to black, ivory, canary yellow, grey and petrol.  Cyrillic script was foiled on t-shirts and lurex thread wound its way through the knitwear.

A final splash was made with the introduction of swimwear for both men and women.

Head Designer Elisabeth Findlay had been inspired by the Greek word ‘Zoi’ meaning life, and in this collection are the ingredients for its unexpected and exciting possibilities.
